Meade County
Animal Shelter
PINS Mission

The purpose of the Pets In Need Society (PINS) is prevention of cruelty to animals, to relieve the suffering of animals, and to advance humane education. PINS volunteers and fundraisers raised enough money in our first two years of existence to put an addition on the Meade County Animal Shelter and renovate the entire facility.

Our current goal is to reduce the number of unwanted animals through an aggressive Spay/Neuter Program. Working closely with the veterinary clinics in Meade County, PINS subsidizes low-cost spay and neuter operations for dogs and cats. Pet owners and pet adopters who need financial assistance to sterilize pay $40 for cats and $50 for dogs, regardless of the animal's sex or size, and PINS pays the balance. If you're interested in assistance with a spay or neuter, call the PINS voice mail number (422-3838) and a volunteer will call back.

Check out the Happy Tales link, featuring success stories from the Meade County Animal Shelter. If you have adoption stories that you'd like to share, please email the webmaster your tale and pictures.

If you're interested in becoming a member of PINS, select the Membership link. PINS meets in Brandenburg, KY at "Little Dave's Down on the River" at 7 p.m. the 4th Monday of every month (except December). Whether or not you choose to become active, by joining PINS you can help the cause.

The PINS motto is, "Together we can make a difference!"

This week's
FEATURED
CREATURE ...

Hi! My name is Andy. I am about 18 months old and am looking for a loving furever home. Animal Control rescued me from a hot, metal garage where I was chained and not cared for.

I am very friendly and playful. I only weigh about 20 pounds, but could use some "bulking up" to get to my ideal weight.

PINS will neuter me for free if you adopt me from the shelter. I'll need vaccinations, though.

I've had a good bath and brush out today, and smell really great - ready to go home with you.
