In March & April, 2006 PINS participated in the Meade County Litter Abatement program. Non-profit, church, school and civic groups did roadside cleanup for $100 per mile. 

With help from the cadets at the Bluegrass ChalleNGe Academy at Fort Knox, PINS cleaned up 10.2 miles of roadway and earned $1,020. 

Almost 30 volunteers participated, and at the end of the first day Rose Welch had a generous meal waiting at her home for the workers.
