PINS urges support By Pat Bowen, PINS PR Chairman In recognition of November being National Animal Shelter Appreciation month, PINS Board of Directors voted to offer FREE spay or neuter to all animals adopted from the Meade County Animal Shelter during the month of November. Traditionally, the shelter is bulging at the seams this time of year with happy, healthy young animals that deserve a good home. The PINS members present at the October monthly meeting decided to encourage all Meade Countians to contribute cat litter, dry dog and cat food, towels, and bleach to the Meade County Animal Shelter in recognition of National Animal Shelter Appreciation Month. According to ACO Tom Brady, all these items are used frequently and will be appreciated. Folks can call prior to delivery (422-2064) or drop the items off at the Animal Shelter, placing them beside (not blocking) the door. In other business at the meeting at Little Dave’s restaurant, President Deb Sobel reminded the members of the two fundraising activities coming up. PINS will participate in the Fort Knox Holiday Bazaar November 4-7. This will be the first year that PINS has offered holiday items at the Bazaar and we hope the items will be well received by the Fort Knox community. Hours of the Bazaar are Friday, 10:30-7; Saturday 10:30-5; and Sunday 12 noon to 5 p.m. December 3-8 wreaths and other holiday items will be displayed for sale at the Meade County Courthouse. Sponsors are needed; donate $25, $50 or $100 and help decorate our polar bear sponsor tree or igloo. New this year is that all items can leave immediately upon purchase. Hours for that event are Sunday from 1-4 p.m., and Monday through Friday during the hours the courthouse is open. Membership in PINS is now
at 119 – the highest ever. Sobel presented a check to the newly formed
Meade County Equine Society, $500 awarded to PINS from the court as part
of penalty in a horse abuse case.
The November PINS meeting will be held Nov. 27 at Little Dave’s. This is the annual meeting for all members at which the officers for next year will be elected.
